In the case of poor weather conditions, there are two ways that you can find out if your child’s practice or game have been cancelled.
1. Check desmoinesupward.org. Cancellation information will be posted on the front page as announcements.
2. Call the Upward hotline at 515-865-6181 for a voice recorded message.
As we all know, weather in Iowa is very unpredictable. Hopefully, there will be very few cancellations due to the weather. Regardless if a game/practice is cancelled or not, it is ultimately your decision if you feel comfortable driving. No coach will penalize a player for missing a practice or game.
Our goal is to determine if a practice or game should be cancelled 2 hours prior to the scheduled time. For example: If your child’s practice starts at 5 pm, you can go to desmoinesupward.org by 3 pm to check the status, or call the hotline. If no cancellation is posted on the web site or the voice mail, then you can assume that your child’s practice or game is on as scheduled.
